Even though you are back at Georgetown, you can still share your overseas experiences with others! OIP offers several ways for you to stay involved; you may participate in one or all of the opportunities listed below. Each activity requires different levels of energy and time commitment, so you can pick the one that best fits your personality and schedule.
OIP Peer Advisor
If you receive federal work-study funds and have a passion for study abroad, then we want you! Peer Advisors are the first point of contact for all Georgetown students interested in studying abroad, helping other students through the entire application, nomination and orientation process. Peer Advising is a chance to spend hours every week discussing and encouraging study abroad. It's a great way to alleviate reverse culture shock. And best of all, it's fun!
OIP is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and organized individuals who have spent at least a semester studying abroad. To apply, please fill out an application, and send it to Tineka Lebrun at tll27@georgetown.edu. To meet this year's Peer Advisors, click here.
Students must apply by the deadline to participate and must be eligible to receive federal work-study funds. Peer advisors typically work 10-12 hours per week.
OIP Volunteer
OIP needs students from each site to serve as a resource at study abroad fairs, information sessions, and pre-departure orientation sessions.
If you are interested, please contact your overseas advisor(s) directly and let them know that you are willing to help out.
The Overseas Studies Student Board
This student board serves as an advisory and programming board for the Division of Overseas Studies. To get more information or to fill out an application, visit their site.
OIP Resource
Returnee students often allow their overseas advisors to distribute their email addresses to prospective study abroad students who may have questions about particular sites. If you do not wish your contact information to be shared, please contact your study abroad advisor.
