About the Program

Waseda University, founded in 1882, is one of Japan’s foremost private research institutions. With an enrollment of over 54,000 students, the university offers a wide variety of courses in English in diverse faculties. Students study at the School for International Liberal Studies (SILS), the undergraduate school focused primarily on area studies, and take language courses at the Center for Japanese Language.

Location

Waseda University is located in the bustling Shinjuku district of central Tokyo, Japan’s capital city and the major commercial and administrative center of Japan. With over 13 million residents in a much larger metropolitan area of 38 million, Tokyo is a lively cosmopolitan city blending East and West, the ultramodern with the traditional, and offering the excitement of living in a major international city in Asia.

Courseload

Students are required to enroll in a full courseload and complete all exams and assignments associated with the course regardless of the credit they wish to receive on the program. Withdrawal from a course or failure to take/complete a final will be regarded as an unauthorized reduction in courseload and a violation of the academic policy.

A full courseload for this program is: 16-17 credits per semester

The minimum passing grade for this program is: C
 

Students are required to live in program housing.

Students live in dormitories close to Waseda's campus and eat meals in campus eateries or in local restaurants.
