About the Program

International Christian University, or ICU, was established in 1949 as the first liberal arts college in Japan. As a bilingual university, ICU offers students a wide array of courses in English, as well as excellent Japanese language instruction. With an enrollment of 3,000 students on a lovely green campus in a suburb of Tokyo, students enjoy strong academic courses, natural integration into local student life, and a calm campus oasis with easy access to the full breadth of Tokyo’s vitality.

Location

ICU is located in the Tokyo suburb of Mitaka, a 30-minute train ride from the central city. Japan’s capital city, Tokyo is the major commercial and administrative center of Japan. With over 13 million residents in a much larger metropolitan area of 38 million, Tokyo is a lively cosmopolitan city blending East and West, the ultramodern with the traditional, and offering the excitement of living in a major international city in Asia.

Courseload

Students are required to enroll in a full courseload and complete all exams and assignments associated with the course regardless of the credit they wish to receive on the program. Withdrawal from a course or failure to take/complete a final will be regarded as an unauthorized reduction in courseload and a violation of the academic policy.

A full courseload for this program is: 10-13 credits

The minimum passing grade for this program is: C

 
 

Students are required to live in program housing.

Students have two housing options:
  • Dormitory room on campus
  • Homestay requiring a possible commute
